My First Post

I've been thinking about starting a blog for awhile now, although I've had trouble determining what I want to focus on.  Obviously, I'd love writing about my babies. I love that Clara (almost 2) is old enough that we can do different activities and crafts together. I like trying different recipes and try to make home cooked meals as much as possible.  I love taking pictures.  I'll probably do a little bit of everything, but the main focus will be improving my photography.

I've always been interested in photography, and this year I'm determined to get better at it.  I took photography in high school, but it's definitely changed a lot since then.  Digital cameras were just becoming popular.  I remember my school had a couple cameras that we could sign out to use for class, but I really preferred being in the darkroom.  I've had various point and shoot digital cameras over the years, but now I almost exclusively use my DSLR.  It's pretty old...I actually got it for college graduation in 2004. My lens was even older. Up until last week, I was using the kit lens from the film SLR I got for high school graduation in 2000!  My dad gave me a 50mm/1.4 for Christmas, and so far I love it.  I'm still learning how to use it, obviously, but it's definitely an upgrade from my old lens!

So, I'm going to post some of my pictures, mainly to document for myself what will hopefully be improvement. I really wanted to get some good pictures of Annabelle as a newborn. I took tons, but wasn't happy with them. I ended up with one that I liked enough, and one of her and Clara that is cute too. I don't love the composition of the one of both of them. 

These were taken on October 16th and 19th. 

Last week, I did a couple photo sessions with the girls in their new hats. 

  I do think I've made some progress just from all the reading that I've done recently, but there's obviously lots of room for improvement! Luckily I have cute subjects to practice on.
